Preschoolers learn about language by watching and listening to you.

Think and plan out loud so your child can see and hear you use language to solve problems or make plans.
"Hi Bud. Are we still to football?" "Great, I'll answer you in the park."

Visit and talk to interesting places. Visit the library, park or museum. Tell your child what you see when visiting. Discuss all the child sees. Ask the child wants a parent or friend about the trip.
"Grandma may wish to hear about giant insects we saw at the museum."

Suggest your child to help you make a chore - to replace a battery in a toy car wash, or pulling weeds. Talk with child about what you do. Your child will learn new words and have fun.

When you go shopping take your child along. Your child will learn and enjoy speaking with you at the supermarket, laundry, or anywhere else, you need to go. Children also like to observe what is happening in neighborhoods along the way to and from these trips.
